IHOP, the International House of Pancakes, is suing IHOP, the International House of Prayer.

The solution is obvious: the latter IHOP should change their name to the International House of Prayer Everlasting, and go by IHOPE.  DONE.

From 5 Blogs Before Lunch:

The International House of Pancakes, known as IHOP, is suing a religious group that calls themselves IHOP as well–the International House of Prayer.

Ihop_logoThe Kansas City-based religious group is being sued by the folks who make the Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity breakfast for trademark dilution and infringement in a suit filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

The International House of Pancakes has been using the “IHOP” acronym since 1973,  and decided to take legal action after the religious group repeatedly refused to change its name — and even began serving food at some of its locations. The group even uses “IHOP” as its website address–although the Christian group’s site is a “.org” instead of a “.com”

IhopThey say their vision is “to work in relationship with the larger Body of Christ to serve the Great Commission, as we seek to walk out the two great commandments to love God and people.”

The pancake house isn’t seeking monetary damages, though it’s pursuing attorney fees and court costs.

Let’s just hope IHOP Kansas City doesn’t change their name to the Kansas City Friendship Congregation–you know, KFC for short.
